Tara Baloch is our eighth beneficiary of the AGM Randeree Scholarship in 2024

As the AGM Randeree Scholar for 2024/5, I am delighted to have been awarded this prestigious scholarship on the basis of my academic and professional work. I aim to utilise the scholarship to expand on my current skills, network and knowledge within the interfaith community.

Being a British-Muslim, a woman, an ethnic minority and also a child of Deaf adults, I consistently focus on the contribution to which diversity has on everyday society. I am passionate about finding ways in which communities can excel and thrive to serve as pillars of society, which is reflected in the work I undertook whilst at Groundswell Project. This also serves as the key example as to why I have chosen to undertake an MPhil in Modern South Asian Studies. I aim to study ethnonationalism within Balochistan, Pakistan specifically to understand how geopolitics affect local nationalist movements. Through utilising my understanding of how local communities work within an understudied region of Pakistan, I hope to gain new insights into how Britain can go forward in building its modern, diverse, national identity.
